2009_10_05 > Needless to say it's been awhile since my last entry.  Facebook just makes it too easy to stay in touch with family and friends.  You can find the latest at http://www.facebook.com/KROSEKS.  BTW - The picture to the left was taken at a recent visit to Uncle Kevin's on Saturday, September 26th, 2009.

2007_04_18 > While on a trip in nearby Reston, VA I decided to take a cab down to the National Mall for a tour.  This was my third visit to DC.  My first trip was in High School.  It was sponsored by a local I.O.O.F lodge after I entered a contest and submitted an essay on the UN.  The second was with my Wife Valerie in the late 90s.  Each trip I am amazed and humbled by the experience.  Seeing the monuments of great American's is inspiring and always leaves me with a since of patriotism and an appreciation of my country.  My favorite memorial is the Lincoln monument.  Whenever I'm there always look down at the steps and think about the events that have taken place there in the past.  Marian Anderson's Easter Morning performance in 39, Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, Richard Nixon's middle-of-the-night visit in 1970, and of course Forest Gump yelling for Jenny across the reflecting pool.  I find the most powerful monument to be the Vietnam Memorial and the 58195 KIA names on the wall.  I can't help but wonder where those on the wall would be if they had not died in war.  The most inspiring monument is the Jefferson Memorial.  It's an interesting site and never as crowded as the Lincoln memorial, but hearing of Jefferson's accomplishments in life always inspires me to do more with mine.

2005_11_28 > Every November I take John to get his picture taken with Santa at the Oak Park Mall in Overland Park.  It just so happens, it's been the same Santa each year.  If you click the picture, you can see them all.  I sent them out as Christmas Cards.

2005_11_27 > Interesting weather on the way home from Great Bend to Kansas City.  There was a Tornado in Fort Riley Kansas, followed by snow later that evening.

2005_09_10 > Went to a Carnival this weekend sponsored by local non-denomination Christian School to raise money.  Our neighbors invited us and at the last minute we decided to go.  John had a great time.  They sold tickets to go down this huge 20' blow-up slide.  John said he wanted to try it.  I really didn't think he would, and figured he would start to get on, but then turn around.  Once we got to the front of the line, and I handed over the three tickets.  He really surprised me and kept going until he got to the top.  It took everything he had to climb the nearly vertical stairs.  He ended up going down the slide 8 times, and would have gone more if it didn't take so long to get through the line.  The next day we went out to play Miniature Golf.  I bought him a small putter a couple months ago.  He enjoys playing, but needs to work on his back swing.

2005_08_26 > Went to Visit Grandma Janice this past weekend.  John had a great time playing on the farm.  He spent most of the weekend in the water sprinkler in the font yard.  We also visited Uncle Kevin, Aunt Michelle, and Clay.  On our way back to Kansas City, we delivered a couch to John's Cousin Savannah at KU.
